CPD2018: 3 May

Course Name:

Course Duration: 1 day training (6 hours)

Course Synopsis

A Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) is an openly accessible, web-based course designed for large-scale enrollment and instruction. Unlike a blended or flipped course, a MOOC is taught completely online. Therefore, teaching a MOOC pushes you to be innovative and creative when it comes to teaching.  It allows you to explore the online environment while pushing the envelope in terms of instructional design and strategies. Many academics say that teaching a MOOC invigorates their on-campus teaching. So if you want to share content with an open and diverse audience, teaching a MOOC is a good way to go. This workshop will help you develop a working understanding of successful online teaching strategies that you can apply in developing your own MOOC. You will have the opportunity to develop your understanding of effective online teaching practices and their relationship to the use of different technologies. You will also be encouraged to progressively design and reflect upon your own online learning activity, assessment or resource for use in your own class if you choose to develop a MOOC for on-campus courses.
